Explore & Learn About With Access to All 21 Houses in the Al Shindagha Museum
Your ticket will give you access to the Al Shindagha Museum and all of its operating houses. These houses, a total of 21, highlight the stories of Emirati culture. Learn about the humble beginnings of this metropolis to its gradual rise, especially under the rule of His Highness Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, the former ruler of Dubai as you explore The Al Maktoum Residence. Al Maktoum Residence is surprising, full of historical information and human stories that bring forth the royal family’s characters to life. Besides this, the other houses also beautifully portray the social, religious, traditional, and economic journey of the nation’s proud Emirati culture.
The Traditional Craft House
The houses in this grand museum suit the liking of visitors across a broad spectrum. For instance, lovers of art and craft can treat themselves to a visit to the Traditional Craft House. Here you will find handicrafts and evidence of time-honed skills for making pottery, cooking ware, fabrics, and jewelry using only traditional materials. The best example of this is how every part of the date palm, called the Tree of Life was used to curate beautiful ingenious objects.
The Perfume House
This house was intriguing because it was also the former home of the late Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, a famous perfume maker, and the aunt to ’s current ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This House bears witness to the long-standing role of perfume-making in Emirati culture. Other houses like Beauty and Adornment, Traditional Jewelry, Traditional Healthcare, Community Hall, and the Children’s House, all reflect the many different shades of Dubai and its rich heritage.
