Alice Springs School of the Air & Telegraph Station
The first stop on the trip is the Alice Springs School of the Air, which provides elementary school-aged pupils from remote estates in the Northern Territory. Find out how this important service is delivered over a million square kilometers using satellite technology.
The historic Telegraph Station was the first European settlement in Alice Springs. It was built in 1872 to send and receive messages between Darwin and Adelaide. After 60 years, the building was used in the neighborhood as an Aboriginal children's school. The Telegraph Station is a must-see landmark. It is a historical reserve that still has the original stone buildings and furniture from the early 1900s.
Royal Flying Doctor Service & Alice Springs Reptile Centre
Next, take a tour of the headquarters and main base of the famous Royal Flying Doctor Service. Since it offers medical services to those who travel to, live in, and work in remote and rural Australia, the RFDS is a crucial resource for the community. Learn about its remarkable history via stories, pictures, and i amazing interactive museum.
The Alice Springs Reptile Centre is home to the largest reptile display in Central Australia, where visitors may meet Terry the saltwater crocodile and get up close to enormous goannas and frill-neck lizards. The Gecko Cave is home to a huge collection of gecko species from all across the Northern Territory. You'll have a lot of fun here, especially during the afternoon performance and, if you're game, the supervised handling session. Your last stop will be at Anzac Hill. It was originally created to honor the many men and women who lost their lives during World War I, but it is now dedicated to all those who have served in wars in which Australia has taken part.
