This is the primary entrance to the Ancient Agora of Athens, located on Adrianou Street, directly across from the Thissio Metro station. Look for the official ticket booth and signage. The entrance is partially wheelchair accessible, with ramps leading into the site, though some interior paths are uneven or gravel. This gate is the best choice for most visitors, including those arriving by metro or on foot from Monastiraki Square.
Apostolou Pavlou Gate (West Entrance)
Situated on Apostolou Pavlou Street, this secondary entrance is convenient for those walking from the Acropolis or Monastiraki. It provides direct access to the central Agora area and is close to the Temple of Hephaestus. Accessibility is limited here, as the terrain is more uneven and there are steps at the gate. This entrance is best for visitors already exploring the surrounding pedestrian zone.
Regular Hours: The Ancient Agora of Athens is open daily from 8:00am to 8:00pm during the summer season (April to October), and from 8:00am to 5:00pm in the winter season (November to March).
Last Entry: Final admission is 30 minutes before closing time.
Special Closures: The site is closed on January 1, March 25, May 1, Easter Sunday, and December 25 & 26. Hours may be reduced on public holidays and during special events. Always check the official website before your visit for any updates or seasonal changes.
