My reindeer experience was also adjusted due to the weather, and once again I truly appreciate that animal welfare comes first. The conditions need to be right for the reindeer to work, and I fully respect that. The tour began with a pickup from the company’s main office the team there is amazing and after a short 15–20 minute drive we arrived at the farm. The staff at the farm introduced themselves and explained everything: the weather situation, how the reindeer are cared for, and all the safety measures in place. The team was fantastic they answered every question, from the simple to the surprisingly deep ones! I won’t spoil any of the fun facts here, but trust me… there are many and they’re fascinating. This isn’t just a tour to see and feed reindeer; it’s a whole meaningful learning experience that genuinely stays with you. I loved every moment. After feeding the reindeer, we headed into a cosy cabin with a warm fire cracking in the fireplace, hot blueberry drink, and Finnish gingerbread biscuits. Such a perfect atmosphere. And honestly, I wasn’t even disappointed that we couldn’t do the sleigh ride being up close with the reindeer and feeding them was priceless on its own. A wonderful, heartwarming experience that I’d happily recommend to anyone. 🦌✨

Great time with the reindeer. Maybe a slightly longer ride with less chain? Small group
  • Learn about authentic Arctic traditions at a family-run reindeer farm, with your choice of sleigh ride distance and the chance to feed, photograph, and connect with these gentle animals.

    Getting started

Your adventure begins with a convenient transfer from your Rovaniemi hotel or a meeting at the City office. Here you’ll receive your winter clothing, get a quick overview of what’s ahead, and settle in for the scenic drive to an authentic family-run reindeer farm in the snowy countryside.

    Farm visit & reindeer encounters

On arrival, you’ll meet the herders who will introduce you to their way of life and share stories about the deep cultural connection between reindeer and the people of Lapland. You’ll have the chance to feed the reindeer, take memorable photos, and enjoy close encounters with these gentle Arctic animals.

    Sleigh ride adventure

The highlight of the tour is a reindeer-pulled sleigh ride through snowy forests and across peaceful winter landscapes. Depending on the option you select, you can enjoy a short 500m ride, a scenic 2.5km journey, or a longer 40-minute adventure through Lapland’s wilderness. The crisp air, snowy silence, and steady rhythm of reindeer hooves create a magical experience.

    Warming up by the fire

After your ride, you’ll gather around a crackling fire to warm up with hot berry juice, tea, or coffee, served with cookies. Here, you can relax, ask questions, and listen to more fascinating insights from local herders about reindeer culture, herding practices, and daily life in the Arctic.
