The largest Art Nouveau complex in the world, Sant Pau, once a hospital, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site is certainly a worthwhile detour. Mosaics illuminated by natural light filtering through massive glass windows, paintings and arches are rarely the sights one would imagine when the word hospital comes to mind. But the magnificent Sant Pau harbors a history that dates back to six centuries. Cloaked in Modernism and designed by Catalan architect Lluis Doménech i Montaner, the building comprises of 20 pavilions showcasing the ornamental style of Art Nouveau. The tour will take you on a journey through the history of modern medicine in Barcelona, bringing you a step closer to its significance. Accompanied by an expert tour guide, your experience will be seamless and all-encompassing.
