#1 Bill Murray
The legendary Bill Murray tries to fit in as much travel as he can while he works. The actor admits, “I live a little bit on the seat of my pants”, so some of the things he gets up to are not surprising. He went to Berlin to promote The Monuments Men and ended up going on an impromptu solo overnight train trip to Prague and back again in time for a 9:00a.m. press conference. In the mid-1980s, Murray took a four-year break from acting, moving to Paris to study philosophy at the Sorbonne: “It was the best thing I ever did”.
#2 Benedict Cumberbatch
Before becoming famous as Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch took a gap year to teach English at a Tibetan monastery. He taught monks with an age range of 8 to 40 but insists they taught him more than he could ever possibly teach them. He has happy memories, commenting, “The monastery was a fantastic experience; you lived your life by very limited means, although you were given board and lodgings.”

George Clooney lives la dolce vita in Italy and is a regular on Lake Como, where he has a huge estate. Parts of his blockbuster movie Ocean’s Twelve were filmed at his villa in Laglio. He also returned to get married to Amal Alamuddin in Venice in 2014 and the newlyweds spent time traveling through the Italian countryside via a Vespa moped and Fiat 500.

In case you’re under the impression that travel is purely the domain of white male privilege, here’s a globetrotting Latina. Sofia Vergara is now the world's highest-paid TV actress, but from 1995 to 1998 she co-hosted a travel show. In Fuera de Serie, she visited exotic places around the world and the show made her a star in the Latin American market. The Colombian actress says, "I like traveling and organising trips to new places with my family.”

It’s one thing to have the travel bug, but Bear goes further and chows down on it. The British adventurer is famous for his survival skills. He’s drunk fecal liquid from elephant dung, eaten deer droppings and used the corpse of a sheep as a sleeping bag. He doesn’t do this because he’s broke; this is his bread and butter - not that you’ll ever see him eating anything as normal as that. His favorite destinations include Mount Everest, Greenland’s vast expanse of wilderness and the considerably less-hostile Panama City.

Lenny Kravitz sure does want to fly away as his famous song suggests. The singer and actor divides his time between international homes in Brazil, Paris and the Bahamas. Heavily into interior design, he seeks inspiration on his adventures and particularly enjoys the aesthetic appeal of Copenhagen and Paris. However, the latter appeals to his stomach too -- “There's a big, fat, greasy man inside of me. I live in Paris half the year, and I love indulging in pastries and fine foods and wine and Champagne.”
