Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express revolves around the enchanting tale of a child's miniature train set springing to life, embarking on a thrilling journey to claim the title of the swiftest locomotive globally. Premiering at the Apollo Victoria theatre in 1984, this theatrical production concluded its run in 2002. Remarkably, it has continued to captivate audiences for over three decades in Bochum, Germany, amassing an astounding viewership of over 20 million people.

Andrew Lloyd Webber shared additional details about the production during a BBC Radio 2 interview. He explained, "It’s not coming back to the stage inasmuch as it is coming back all around you. People think steam is in the past, well, not any more – steam is the future! You’ll find out more when you go to the show.”
He continued, "This time we’re at a space, the Troubadour, where we can do absolutely anything. So it’s going to be around you, the seats will move, it’s going to be a completely new experience.”- so now you know what you have to look forward to!
Cast and creatives: Brains behind the legendary Starlight Express
Under the direction of Luke Sheppard (known for "The Little Big Things"), the production will feature Tim Hatley (renowned for "Back to the Future") as the set designer, with costume design by Gabriella Slade (notable for "Six"). Additionally, Phillips is an integral part of the creative team, collaborating with video designer Andrzej Goulding ("Life of Pi"), lighting designer Howard Hudson ("& Juliet"), and sound designer Gareth Owen ("MJ the Musical"). The musical will also showcase fresh orchestrations and musical supervision by Matthew Brind, complemented by innovative choreography by Ashley Nottingham ("Pacific Overtures"). The casting conformation is still underway.
