Why Watch Constellations
Why Watch Constellations
Constellations is a fabulous exploration of popular science juxtaposed with romantic themes. When a beekeeper (Roland) and a cosmologist (Marianne) get acquainted with each other at a barbeque, they decide to go out for a drink. In line with the famous multiverse theory, the play has divergent storylines that explore various universes in which different sets of decisions were made by Marianne and Roland. Do they go their separate ways after breaking each other’s hearts or do they end up married? The play has plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged right until the very last scene.
Constellations won critical acclaim for its successful run at London’s Royal Court Theater earlier this year. The show is written by British playwright and screenwriter Nick Payne, who won the Evening Standard’s ‘Most Promising Playwright Award’ in 2010. His productions have been nominated for several prestigious awards including the Helen Hayes Award and the Tony Award. Directed by Michael Longhurst, Constellations features talented performers such as Shela Atim, Peter Capaldi, and Anna Maxwell Martin.

Reviews
“The play may fixate on physics, but the chemistry between the two leads is potent enough to move an audience to tears.”
“Short and sweet and strangely haunting.”
