How to use the Eurail Pass
1. Setting up your mobile Pass
Download the Rail Planner app. You can follow the link that was sent to you when you on your email. Make sure you download the latest version of the app. Click on 'Add your Pass' to get started. Here there will be two fields for your last name and Pass number. This field is case sensitive so make sure you type it exactly the way it is on your confimration mail.
2. Connect your trip
To keep a track of your journey, create a new trip and get going! Each Pass will need it's own trip. So if you have added multiple Passes on your device, each pass will require it's own trip.
3. Final step: How to activate your pass?
Before you commence your journey, you'll have to activate your pass by entreing your Passport ID. Depending on the kind of pass, choose your start date and keep your pass active.
Note: If you are not sure which date you'll be starting your trip, you can come back to this step later anytime in the 11 month validity of the pass.
Reserving Seats:
- When to Reserve: Seat reservations are not compulsory on many trains but are advisable for popular routes, high-speed, international, or overnight trains.
- How to Reserve: Reservations can be made online on the Eurail website, through the Rail Planner App, or at the train station. A reservation fee is required.
Using the Pass:
The final part is when you need to show your ticket to ticket inspectors. In just two taps you can show your QR code and travel comfortable. One, go to My Pass. Each journey will have a different pass so make sure you open the right ticket. Two, click on Show Ticket so that the ticket inspector can scan the bar code and verify your ticket. Post this, they may ask for passport ID so keep it handy.
