Things to do in Atlanta

If you ever get a chance to go to the Georgia Aquarium, just do it!

Last Updated:

You've probably seen those iconic photos — visitors silhouetted against massive glass walls while gentle giants glide by. That's Georgia Aquarium for you, one of the world's most amazing marine wonderlands and the sixth largest aquarium globally. Nestled in downtown Atlanta, this family-friendly destination is home to over 100,000 animals from 500 different species.

Only two aquariums in the world have whale sharks, and this is one of them. You can actually hop in and swim with these gentle giants (don't worry, they only eat plankton)!

The "Destination: Dolphin" presentation will make you forget you're sitting in a 1,800-seat theater in Atlanta – it feels more like you've stumbled onto a tropical coast. Between shows, check out the roseate spoonbills strutting around like tiny pink dinosaurs (which, evolutionarily speaking, isn't far off).
