Based on one of the world's most epic (and probably biggest) modern myths, which has spanned countless movies and other media, King Kong is making a gigantic splash on Broadway on October 2018 at the Broadway Theatre. The thrilling theatrical take on one of pop culture’s biggest icon remains, at its core, the emotional story of a woman who'll risk anything to protect a beast she's attempting to understand. The show is whipping up a spectacular combination of robotics, puppetry and stagecraft to bring the enormous titular character to life making the show something of a must see event.
The show is written by Jack Thorne who also brought Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to stage in London and New York. Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie has directed and choreographed the show with creature design by Sonny Tilders.The electrifying score is composed by La La Land’s music composer, Marius de Vries with lyrics by Eddie Perfect of Strictly Ballroom fame.
The Story of King Kong
The 21st century reimagining of this classic beauty and the beast tale follows the same beats as the major motion pictures that came before. King Kong follows the journey of ambitious young actress Ann Darrow and independent filmmaker Carl Denham as they travel from the bustling lanes of 1930s New York to an uninhabited island that is home to the world's greatest wonder. What begins with the desire to capture the gorilla for Ann turns into a personal mission to save him.

About Broadway Theatre
The Broadway Theatre will be home to King Kong come October. With a seat count of 1761, it is the perfect venue to showcase the grandeur of the gigantic ape. The theatre opened on Christmas Day 1924. Originally designed by architect Eugene De Rosa for Benjamin S. Moss, the theater has operated under many names and owners and is currently owned by the Shubert Organisation.
