The Lyric Theatre is an opera, ballet, and theatrical performance space within the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). Step-free access: The venue has elevators to reach all accessible locations, including seating and toilets, and all theater facilities including the restaurants and bars.

Accessible seating: Wheelchair-accessible seating is available in Rows N and W of the Stalls and Row Q of Balcony 1. Companion seats are also available. Accessible seats are limited, so confirm availability while booking your tickets.

Audiovisual assistance: The venue also provides hearing assistance options for free from the cloakroom, can accommodate service dogs, and offers relaxed performances for patrons with sensory sensitivities and specific needs.

Parking: The venue has limited parking space, including pre-paid parking options, at multiple lots across QPAC. The closest one to the theater is the Performing Arts Car Park (P1) located in the Cultural Centre car parks.

Restrooms: There are restrooms on Mezzanine levels LM, M, and TM as well as Levels 2 and 4. Accessible toilets are on levels M, 2, and 4, and the restroom on Level TM includes baby change facilities.

Merchandise store: You can grab some merch at the Level 2 (Stalls) stand or at one of the many pop-up stands that are set up for shows.

  • Reaching early: The QPAC is a sprawling complex and while accessible and relatively easy to navigate, it helps to get there early to find your way. The foyers open 90 minutes before a performance.
  • Accessibility: The Lyric is equipped with several accessibility options and the staff are trained to assist you. Be sure to inform them if you require specific accommodations before your show.
  • Dress code: There is no dress code for this venue but smart casuals are a great choice if you’d like to dress for the occasion. The theater is airconditioned all year round, so we recommend a light jacket or wrap to keep you warm.
  • Food and beverage: The venue has multiple restaurants and bars that serve a variety of menus. The ground floor has a wide range of dining options while theater bars on Levels T and 4 serve a limited menu of snacks and refreshments.

Getting There


Bus: The Cultural Centre station services nearly a hundred bus routes, stopping right by the QPAC. Bus 86 additionally stops at the South Brisbane station on Grey Street, by the Lyric Theatre. Due to Brisbane Metro work happening currently, some routes may be disrupted with some services moving to the nearby Melbourne Street.

Train: The South Brisbane station on Grey Street services a wide range of train routes.
