Madame Tussauds was founded by Marie Tussaud, who learned the art of wax modeling from Philippe Curtius during her childhood. She created her first sculpture at the age of 16 and later became a tutor to Madame Élisabeth, the sister of King Louis XVI of France. After Curtius' death, Marie traveled across Europe to showcase a collection of figures before eventually settling on the upper floor of the Baker Street Bazaar in London.
