A comparatively new venue for Broadway, the Marquis Theatre is nestled on the third floor of the stunning Marriott Marquis Hotel on West 46th Street. Despite its youth, a variety of musicals have made their mark at the venue since it opened in 1986. When the Marriott Marquis was built on the site of several demolished theaters, developer John Portman was asked to incorporate a new venue into his designs. With high ceilings, modern acoustics and comfortable seats (not to mention extra restrooms), the Marquis Theatre is a thoroughly modern addition to Broadway.
Since opening with Me and My Girl (1986), the Marquis Theatre has seen a host of notable productions including Gypsy (1991), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2002) and Evita (2012). In recent years, crowd-pleasers including The Illusionists (2014, 2018) have continued to draw audiences to the Marquis Theatre.

Section Accessibility
Orchestra: The Orchestra is not step-free from street level; patrons with limited mobility are able to take an elevator from the Marquis Marriott Hotel lobby to the theatre lobby on the third floor. Once in the Orchestra, the aisles are stepped.
Mezzanine: The Mezzanine is accessible by stairs only from the theater lobby, and once in the section, there may be one or two steps down per row to reach your seats. Handrails are available at stepped rows. As there is no accessible seating in the Mezzanine, this section is not advised as a first choice for patrons with limited mobility.

Getting There
The Marquis Theatre is fairly unique: it’s one of the few Broadway venues located inside another building, on the third floor of the Marriott Marquis Hotel at 210 West 46th Street. Its location means there are options for relaxing or dining in the hotel itself, but plenty of New York's other fantastic tourist and dining hotspots are also just a stone’s throw away. The Marquis Theatre’s central location makes it perfect for public transport, with subway stations and bus stops a short walk away.
The Marquis Theatre can be reached from various subway stations, including 49th Street (served by the N, R and W lines). From the station, the theater is a short two-minute walk away by heading south on Broadway and turning right onto West 46th Street. 50th Street (on the C or E line) and 50th Street – Broadway (on the 1 or 2 line) are also good options on the subway. Both are about five minutes away from the Marquis Theatre on foot.
It’s very easy to get to the Marquis Theatre by bus. The M20 and M104 buses stop at West 46th Street and 8th Avenue. From this stop, the theater is just two minutes away if you walk south-east along 8th Avenue and turn right onto West 46th Street. Alternatively, the M7 stops at West 44th Street and 7th Avenue, which is three minutes from the theater via Broadway.
