About the Show
Matilda, written by the inimitable Roald Dahl is the much-loved tale of an extraordinary child proving to the adults her worth, and is also a globally renowned stage show from Tim Minchin and the Royal Shakespeare Company. The longest running production to play at the Cambridge Theatre in history, it is the winner of over 86 major international awards. Matilda The Musical has been seen by millions of people worldwide. Matilda London first played at Royal Shakespeare Company’s Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010, and won a record-breaking (at the time) seven Olivier Awards when it opened in London’s West End in 2011. The story revolves around the precocious Matilda and her horrible parents, and weaves a tale of pure comedy and innocence as Matilda fights for the love she deserves. The Story
Matilda is an extraordinary child who is light years ahead of her time. The same cannot be said for those around her - Matilda’s parents think she is a nuisance (Matilda thinks, quite rightly, they are only interested in watching the TV) and her teacher, the monstrous Miss Trunchbull makes school a living hell by terrifying students and teachers alike. Then one day Matilda discovers she has a very special power, and decides it's time these grown-ups were taught a lesson.
Will she be able to help the kind Miss Jennifer Honey, also Miss Trunchbull’s niece? Will her powers aid her in standing up for her friends, and finding a better life for herself?
