The Palace of Versailles Reopening Date - 6th June 2020
Along with other monuments and museums, the Palace of Versailles is also reopening in France. However, effective measures have been put in place ensuring maximum security and safety within the venue for all visitors.
Safety Measures in Place at the Palace of Versailles
To ensure maximum safety, all visitors must wear masks within the venue. This applies for everyone aged 11 and above. Visitors are required to bring their own masks as it will not be provided at the venue.
The biggest change is the number of visitors – only 500 people will be allowed in the castle at any one time (approximately 4,500 per day), compared to the usual 27,000 per day.
In order to maintain social distancing, visitors are advised to follow the markings on the ground and also are required to stand one meter away from everyone.
The luggage service has been temporarily suspended. Some of the estate’s restaurants and cafés will be open for take away and on terrasses. No eating or drinking is permitted inside the Palace or the Grand Trianon (only in the park and gardens).
The smaller venues such as the Petit Trianon, the King's private apartments and the Opera will be open for guided tours only, while the larger spaces have been redesigned to prevent people crossing paths.
A Covid-19 information point has been set up in the South Miniters’ Wing to handle any inquiry or clarification.

The Palace of Versailles Tickets are available online.
Visitors must book in advance before visiting the venue.
In order to avoid visitors overlapping, the entrances and exits are separate and clearly marked at the Palace of Versailles and on the Trianon Estate. Entrance will be made via the Grand Trianon and exit will be done through the Grand Trianon or Petit Trianon.
