20-year-old Sabrina Carpenter makes her Broadway debut as Cady Heron in Mean Girls!
The Broadway hit musical Mean Girls will feature newcomer Sabrina Carpenter in the lead role as Cady Heron. Beginning 10 March 2020 at the August Wilson Theater, the singer, songwriter and actor will continue in the role till 7 June 2020.
Popularly known for her role in Disney Channel’s Boy Meets World reboot, Carpenter will make her Broadway debut with Mean Girls. "I'm so excited. I’m such a big fan of the musical, the movie, the story in general”, she told People magazine.
The story revolves around Cady Heron, a teen who moves from her home in the African savannah to a high school in suburban Illinois. She befriends the Plastics -- a trio of girls known for their popularity and mean nature -- led by the queen, Regina George. Cady eventually rises to the top of the food chain at school by devising a plan to dethrone Regina. In doing so, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.

Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, Mean Girls first opened in 2018 with a book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. The musical also features Olivia Kaufmann as Janis Sarkisian, Chad Burris as Damian Hubbard, Laura Leigh Turner as Karen Smith and Reneé Rapp as Regina George AKA Queen bee
