Adaptation of the Oscar-Winning Anime Film Spirited Away
Spirited Away stage play in London brings to life the mesmerizing universe of Hayao Miyazaki's Academy Award-winning animated masterpiece on the theatrical stage. This remarkable adaptation preserves the original Japanese language of the film (with English captions), masterfully crafted by John Caird and co-adapted by Maoko Imai, all accompanied by the iconic score composed by Joe Hisaishi.
Cast, Crew and Production
Spirited Away stage play, London is presented by TOHO Co Ltd and co-produced by PW Productions. The European premiere will showcase the original Japanese cast, featuring Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi alternating as Chihiro. Leading the creative team are Brad Haak for musical supervision and orchestrations, and Conor Keelan for associate music supervision and orchestrations, along with Ableton programming.
Further contributing to the production's magic are set designer Jon Bausor, puppet designer Toby Olié, choreographer Shigehiro Ide, costume designer Sachiko Nakahara, lighting designer Jiro Katsushiba, sound designer Koichi Yamamoto, and hair and makeup designer Hiroaki Miyauchi. The team also includes projection designer Satoshi Kuriyama, stage manager Takashi Hojo, assistant to the director Maoko Imai, associate director Makoto Nagai, co-producer Iain Gillie, and producer Haruka Ogi.
The Magical Story of Spirited Away
Spirited Away will introduce you to the story of Chihro, who embarks on a journey to a new home with her family only to unexpectedly wander into a fantastical realm inhabited by ethereal spirits under the dominion of the sorceress Yubaba. As her parents undergo a startling metamorphosis, being transformed into pigs, Chihiro finds herself on a mission to rescue them and seek a path back to the world of reality.".
