Disney’s award-winning musical, The Lion King, is now running in its 21st year at the Lyceum Theatre, London. Set in the majestic plains of Africa comes the ever-inspiring story of a young cub and his journey towards becoming the King of The Pridelands.
Ever since its opening on Broadway in 1997 and West End in 1999, The Lion King Musical London has won multiple awards including the Tony Award for Best Musical. Director Julie Taymor has recreated the story for the West End stage brilliantly, making you reimagine theatre like never before.

The Story
Based on the beloved Walt Disney film from 1994 comes an enchanting tale filled with life, love, and inspiration. The Lion King musical London follows the story of young Simba and his journey from being a playful little cub to taking his rightful place as King. Waiting to follow his father Mufasa’s footsteps, Simba can’t wait for the day he gets to be King. His evil Uncle Scar, however, has other plans.
Scar has been coveting Mufasa’s role for the longest time and is enraged at the thought of Simba being King instead of him. Filled with anger, Scar devises an evil plan to take over the throne and the Pridelands.
Will he succeed? What will happen to Mufasa? Will Simba overcome all obstacles and take his rightful place as King? Find out as the musical takes you through an adventurous journey exploding with color, spectacular effects, and inspiring music.

Known initially as 'Theatre Royal Lyceum and English Opera House,’ the first few years showcased the works of composer John Barnett including The Mountain Sylph in 1834.
