The Show has Closed
The Soho Theatre is nestled amidst the creative heart of London. It has earned a reputation as London's most vibrant venue for new theatre, cabaret, and comedy. With a festival-like program running all year round, the Soho Theatre has become an exciting venue for tourists and locals alike. It is currently hosting a revival of Vicky Jones’ debut play, The One, starring Tuppence Middleton (of Sense8 fame). This edgy play tackles sex in the most viciously funny and astounding way. Our guide below will help you get the right information about the play and help you find ways to get The One West End tickets at a discounted price.
About the Show
The One has been written by London’s exciting new voice, Vicky Jones. She is incidentally also the winner of the Verity Bargate Award, Soho Theatre’s national competition for the best new play by an emerging writer, chosen out of 800 submissions. This brilliantly staged two-person play addresses issues of consent, violence, and sex in a daring and dark, yet achingly funny way. The play also brings out the concept of believing in ‘the one’ in an exhilarating manner.
There is nothing artificial about it yet it makes you uncomfortable - it has something to do with the brutal honesty with which the writers and actors have brought out the depth of the topics. What makes it a terrific mixture of a near perfect play is the conversation we watch between the two leads, Harry and Jo, who struggle with these concepts through the course of one sleepless drunken night.
The Story
The One revolves around a typical modern couple, Harry and Jo, who are up all night trying to figure out the functionality of their relationship. With an age difference of 10 years age them, Jo is locked into a continuous power struggle with Harry that is torn between love and lust. Their affinity towards sex and violence, and their taste for sophisticated intellectual mind games are as funny as destructive. They leave the audience wondering till the end, whether or not they are truly made for each other.
