The (partial) cast of Tootsie Broadway musical is set to make an appearance at the Upper West Side Barnes & Noble.

Tony Award winner Santino Fontana, and Tony nominees Sarah Stiles and Lilli Cooper are about to make an appearance at the Upper West Side Barnes and Noble outlet for a CD signing event on 10th September at 4 PM ET. The store is located at 150 East 86th Street. This is in celebration of the launch of the Tootsie cast recording album that went for sale on August 16. The album is also available on digital platforms. The popular musical has a Tony-nominated score by David Yazbeck, who will also be joining the lead cast at the signing, in addition to John Behlmann, Andy Grotelueschen, Julie Halston, and Reg Rogers. Tootsie celebrated 100 performances earlier this year after being well received by both audiences and critics. It opened to great interest from the Broadway faithful on April 23, 2019, and is slated to be at the Marquis Theatre. Tickets are on sale for up to April 19, 2020.

Tootsie is directed by Scott Ellis and choreographed by Denis Jones. It has a book by Robert Horn. Tootsie is based on a story by Don McGuire and Larry Gelbart for the movie starring Dustin Hoffman. The musical follows the original storyline closely, adding a few key points of difference. Tootsie is the story of a number of actors who have dreamed of making it big at the Broadway stage. It is a story about hope and it is presented quite hilariously by the production team. The Hollywood Reporter has called it the most uproarious new show in years.

Tootsie Broadway Musical

The lead character of Tootsie is a struggling actor with a difficult attitude. His career is in limbo until the day he delivers the performance of a lifetime and makes a name for himself. The premise can be recognizable but the musical has been praised for avoiding the traps that the contemporary musical comedies have fallen in. Despite its utilization of tropes like the struggling actor and the rags-to-riches story, Tootsie manages to hold its own when it comes to the execution.
