Why Watch Perfect Crime
Why Watch Perfect Crime
Perfect Crime is the longest running play in New York City. It is a classic that has captured the hearts of many. A gripping and suspense-filled plot, paired with fine acting makes for an absolutely riveting experience. It’s no surprise that this play has run for around 30 years, with more than 12,000 shows. Similar to that of Agatha Christie’s crime novels, or like Gone Girl, you will be kept on the edge of your seat throughout the performance, eager for the next big development.
It features the marvelous Catherine Russell, who has played the lead character since the inception in 1987. Russell currently holds the world record for the highest number of performances as a particular character in a play. She plays not only the role of Margaret Thorne Brent, a wealthy psychiatrist but also acts as the general manager of the play. Her acting has been perfected over the years and is a treat to behold. The fact that Russell has missed just 4 performances in over 22 years is a testament to her skill and love for theatre. A good old crime thriller has everlasting appeal, and Perfect Crime is the perfect example.
The Story
Perfect Crime is a classic thriller about a crazy patient, a charming detective, three psychiatrists and at least one dead body. Set in a homely living room, a loud bang is heard, and a man in a suit is shot. The story follows Margaret Thorne Brent, played by the amazing Catherine Russell, who is a shrink from Connecticut. She is also an author and perhaps the smartest murderer that lived. There are several curious questions that need to be answered: Is a man murdered, or not? Was he killed by his wife? The handsome detective, James Ascher, certainly thinks he has the case completely solved and believes that Margaret is the cold-blooded killer. This is until he begins to fall in love with the lady herself! Amidst all this, there is a mind-bending plot twist, that changes everything that the detective ever thought about the case. Can Ascher uncover the truth and solve this complex case?
