Why watch Teeth
Why watch Teeth
Teeth is back upon audience demand, this time on New World’s Stages. This is a story where a model girl bites into the culture of shame and repression she was born into and tears it to shreds. Teeth is for the theater-goer who wants to be shocked and then laugh about it. A show so spectacular, it was extended twice in the Playwrights Horizons theater, it’s back and it's ready to kill.
The story
The musical centers on Dawn O'Keefe, a model Christian adolescent deeply committed to her faith. However, when an ancient eldritch demon curses her so that her body literally bites back, Dawn and everyone around her morph into a breeding ground of sin. The best part? They’re not sorry about it.
With her stepbrother also wrestling with his faith and the demon Dentata literally wrestling with the men she’s with, Teeth is out for blood. Brazen and out-there, it is a roaring dark comedy of madness and revenge. All set to music, of course.
