A place rooted in tradition
If you are a history or an architecture buff looking to explore traditional Korea for a day close to Busan, then this Gyeongju World Heritage Sites tour might be perfect for you. Once the capital of the Silla Dynasty, Gyeongju is considered a hub of traditional Korean and Buddhist art. You can start by visiting Bulguksa Temple, a Buddhist temple built between 514-540 to wish for peace and prosperity and home to a white granite seated Buddha. Then, you can move on to Yangdong Village where you will see 200-year-old tiled homes on the top of the hill and the thatched homes on the lower ground built as per aristocratic class and tradition in mind.
Where the past and present meet
Next, visit the Daereungwon tomb complex, a history park home to 23 small and large ancient grass-mound tombs and the famous Gold Crown from the heavenly horse tomb. Move on to Hwangridan Street, which introduces tourists to the modern face of Gyeongju with various street food and trendy cafes housed in traditional Korean houses. End your tour with a stroll on the Woljeong Bridge with an incredible view of the Wolji Pond as the sun sets in the background.
