Guiden var meget tålmodig, behagelig og vidende. Bemærk, at der ikke var nogen multiple choice-muligheder for feedback, der på passende vis beskrev karakteren af min feedback, så jeg var nødt til at vælge "min guide var uhøflig og ubehagelig" (guiden var ingen af delene), fordi jeg ellers ikke ville have været i stand til at indsende skriftlig feedback. Jeg havde et par kommentarer til det sprog, guiden brugte på turen. Den første handlede om inkluderende sprog for deltagerne. Der var tidspunkter, hvor guiden omtalte deltagerne som "damer og herrer", hvilket ikke anerkender min identitet som ikke-binær deltager (det vil sige en person, der ikke udelukkende er enten mand eller kvinde). Ved at bruge et alternativt sprog som "alle" eller "team" undgår man at udelukke ikke-binære deltagere. En anden kommentar, jeg havde, handlede om Bruny Island. Værten kom med en kommentar om, hvordan en række mennesker, der bor på øen, var blevet "Cook-skøre" og havde opkaldt gadeskilte osv. efter James Cook. Dette blev kommunikeret som et interessant faktum, som deltagerne kunne være interesserede i, snarere end som noget, der kunne få First Nations-deltagere og First Nations-beboere på Bruny Island til at føle sig kulturelt utrygge på grund af Cooks rolle i den voldelige kolonisering af Australien. The entire day ran very well. Pickup was on time. The guide, Dave has an infectious enthusiasm and love for Bruny Island with spirited commentary, humorous anecdotes and interesting details. Food was excellent wityh a highlight being eating oysters and cheese overlooking a quiet bay where Captain Cook anchored around 250 years previously. An enjoyable mix of great views and great food.

What's not allowed

This tour is not recommended for children aged 2 and under.
Children aged 5 and under cannot participate in the Cape Bruny Lighthouse tour but can walk inside at the base under the supervision of an adult.
