Jeg var nødt til at leje to audioguider på Château St Ange for €16, fordi jeg ikke kunne downloade appen. Men det var fint nok til at komme ind uden at stå i kø.

Retningen af den guidede tur på audioguiden fulgte ikke retningen af turen på slottet. Det var svært at finde rundt Punkt 14 er faktisk punkt 2 Audioguiden fungerede ikke under brug Punkterne på audioguiden var ikke alle de samme som dem, der var angivet på slottet

Slottet er smukt, og ja, det er tilrådeligt at bestille billetter for at springe køen over. Udsigten fra toppen er smuk. Det eneste, jeg ville ændre, er, at mødestedet ikke er så stort, fordi andre bureauer også mødes i nærheden af trappen, eller at den ansvarlige bærer en t-shirt med Headout-logoet.

Stedet er interessant. Det tog et stykke tid, før jeg fik billetterne, og først da vidste jeg, at jeg var nødt til at downloade audioguiden. Jeg ville gerne have været fri for at købe audioguiden, men jeg fik ikke mulighed for at vælge Wien opdeling af billetterne. Numrene i guiden stemte ikke overens med numrene på siden, hvilket gjorde det svært at følge med.

Fantastisk sted at besøge, køb af billet var meget ligetil, og når det var der, var det også hurtigt og nemt at komme ind i attraktionen. Jeg kæmpede med internetadgang udenfor, men appen virkede til sidst, tog et skærmbillede bare i tilfælde af.

A chameleon-like castle with a rich backstory

Castel Sant’ Angelo or ‘castle of the holy angel’ is one of the most remarkable buildings in Italy. Initially built in the year 135AD as a mausoleum for the Roman emperor Hadrian, the monument served as a military building and a place of refuge for popes during the sieges in 1527. Explore the castle, which is now a National Museum, at your own pace. Opt for hosted entry and be escorted straight inside. Add on an audio guide to gain an in-depth understanding of Roman history and architecture in your preferred language!

Spiraling history

Split into five floors that connected by a spiral ramp, you will have access to the chamber of ashes, and the cells in which many historical figures were incarcerated. As you move towards the upper part of the castle, you will also see beautifully decorated rooms that acted as a Papal residence and an extensive collection of ancient weapons. Check out the large terrace on the top floor, where you can wrap up your experience with stunning, panoramic views of Rome.

Wear comfortable walking shoes as some of the steps and passageways in the castle can be a little slippery.
If you are visiting with a baby or a toddler, get a carrier.
