Join the tour and watch the sky come alive with stories and experiences you have never come across previously. The 25-meter dome hosts several sessions to help you step into the shoes of astronauts. Take a moment to live among the stars in one of the largest planetariums in the world, which offers a distinct view of the night sky with over 9000 stars and the Milky Way displayed in LED lights.
The tour also provides access to the gallery, which is home to several thematic exhibitions. The planetarium also houses an Astronomical Observatory (under renovation) and a library for visitors to explore and peruse. Planetarium de Marinha was inaugurated on July 20, 1965, to honor the 10-year death anniversary of Calouste Gulbenkian. It was constructed as a part of the Museu de Marinha or Navy Museum.
Besides its excellent exhibitions and sessions in the dome, the planetarium is still a part of several active national and international astronomy projects.
