Olga

Discover Gaudí's architectural marvel
Originally intended to be a gated community for aristocrats, Park Güell is a burst of Gaudí's imagination that comes to life in the form of a public park. Positioned at an apt vantage point in Barcelona, this iconic park has quirky buildings, lush parks, and unique details that amuse even the most cynical visitor. Making up 5% of Park Güell, the area where the monuments are located houses Sala Hipòstila (the Hypostyle Room), Museu del Guarda (Guard Museum), Jardins d’Àustria (Gardens of Austria), Plaça de la Natura (Nature Square or terrace), Pòrtic de la Bugadera (Wash House Portico) and interesting roads, viaducts and paths that one must see to believe! Note: The whole area of the park (12ha) can be accessed by 50% of the normal capacity or at 1,400 people per hour.
The exquisite lizard figurine that welcomes you into Park Güell - an adequate representation of the burst of color you can expect within the park!
A view from Plaça de la Natura that showcases Gaudí's incredible vision.
The impeccable ceilings in the Hypostyle Room.
Straight out of any fantasy-fiction novel, this is the Portico de la Lavandera, an incredible viaduct, one of many in Park Güell.
Park Güell is easily one of the most popular attractions in Barcelona, receiving over 5 million visitors annually. With a limited number of people allowed within each scheduled time slot for entry, we suggest you book in advance to get tickets at the most convenient time for you.
Note: Residents of the neighborhoods adjacent to Park Güell (El Coll, Vallcarca-Penitents, La Salut, El Carmel, Can Baró, and Baix Guinardó) and holders of the registered Gaudir Més enjoy free access from 7am to 9:30am and from 8pm to 10pm. However, touristic visits are not allowed during the mentioned time slots.
What to bring
- Wear comfortable walking shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking on uneven paths and multiple stairways.
- During the summer months, it is recommended to bring hats/caps to protect from the sun, and water for hydration due to high temperatures.
Accessibility
- For visitors with mobility problems, Park Güell offers two free wheelchairs for hire (subject to availability).
- The tourist coach car park has three places for people with reduced mobility.
Additional information
- During peak season, April to August, expect a considerable wait time at entry.
- Please note that access to the Park Güell Salamander is temporarily restricted for about a month due to ongoing restoration to preserve Gaudí’s work.
- Pro tip: Park Güell has three entrances—choose what suits you! Av. del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya has escalators (though it’s steep), Carretera del Carmel (nº 23) is ideal for coach drop-off, and Carrer d’Olot brings you right into the Monumental Zone.
- If you'd like to skip a lot of climbing and stairs, a great option is to take public transport like Bus #24 or grab a taxi. This will get you to the entrance at Carretera del Carmel, which is just a short 100 meters from the bus stop. You'll find the area with the monuments only another 100 meters in, and mostly flat 200-meter stroll!
- Access to the Monumental Zone is regulated for preservation, and certain areas may be closed for renovations. Key locations include the Entrance, Guardhouse, Monumental Staircase, Hypostyle Room (inside and outside), Austria Gardens, Nature Square, pathways, viaducts, and Larrard House Ramp.
- Children under 6 can enter for free, they just need free tickets. For a seamless entry, book their free tickets during checkout.
- Guests are allowed to bring outside food and water into the venue. However, they must consume it in the designated picnic areas only.
- Going for the audio guide? Simply ensure that the guides are downloaded on the Headout app before your visit. It’s super simple to use, and you get offline access with an easy language-switching feature.
