Maden var så god, og oplevelsen af at gå rundt i landsbyen og se sangene, dansene og sangene var så fængslende!!!

Billetbestilling var ikke mit bedste valg, jeg kan ikke lide billetter og online-ting, men jeg ved, at det er sådan, det er. Aftenen var spektakulær. Jeg lærte mere om maori-kulturen på de tre timer end i de 15 år, jeg boede der. Det var i 1990'erne, og Pakeha var ikke alt for velkomne dengang til at blive undervist, men jeg forstår det og er glad for, at tingene er kommet videre. Jeg kunne ikke anbefale det højere som den bedste ting at gøre i Rotorua. Jeg elskede det 🥰

The entire experience was amazing. It's not an experience you will find anywhere else. The cultural displays was very impactful and informative. And the food was some of the best we've had on our month long trip. This was definitely a highlight of the trip

Your experience

Start your evening by being welcomed to the Mitai Maori Village, where a traditional ceremony awaits. You’ll witness warriors paddle down the Wai-o-Whiro stream in authentic canoes, offering a glimpse into ancient Māori life. The evening includes the unveiling of your hangi dinner—cooked underground using hot stones. Watch as steam rises and the meal is unearthed before your eyes.

As you enjoy your buffet feast, which features everything from succulent lamb to flavorful seafood, the cultural show begins. You'll see captivating performances, including the famous haka, poi dances, and Māori songs, all presented with passion and pride. Throughout the night, you’ll have opportunities to ask questions and engage with the performers, deepening your understanding of Māori traditions.

The experience includes a nature walk with a guide who will explain how the Māori people lived in harmony with their environment in the ancient fortified village. At night, the forest lights up with native glowworms, adding a magical touch to this cultural experience.

Transfers from Rotorua hotels are available for convenience, making this a seamless evening from start to finish.

What to bring

Dress in layers for changing weather conditions. Bring a hat for sun protection, a jacket in case of rain, and an insect repellant. Comfortable shoes with good traction are essential for the bush walk.

The forest walk has limitations for wheelchair accessibility. The stairs, uneven surfaces, and platform-based canoe viewing may pose challenges for wheelchair users.
