Katedralen i Sevilla er imponerende på grund af sin størrelse, fantastiske gotiske arkitektur og udsmykning. Man kan kun forundres over middelaldermestrenes konstruktion og håndværk. Der er altid meget lange køer ved billetskranken. Med headout-billetten kunne vi komme ind i katedralen og La Giralda-tårnet på det valgte tidspunkt uden at stå i kø. Jeg kan kun varmt anbefale forudbestilling. Opstigningen til tårnet er speciel, da der ikke er nogen trapper, der fører til udsigtsplatformen, men skråninger. Fra platformen har man hele Sevilla under sig, men altid gennem sikkerhedsgitre. Det forringede desværre oplevelsen en smule.Raymond

Vi nød vores besøg i den smukke katedral i Sevilla. Katedralbygningen er velholdt og meget unik sammenlignet med andre traditionelle katedraler i Europa. Alle billederne blev perfekte.

Katedralen er en imponerende kirke i størrelse og design. Et højdepunkt er vandreturen til toppen af katedralens Giralda-tårn. Den købte billet giver også adgang til Frelserens kirke (Iglesia del Salvador), og det er værd at benytte sig af.

The iconic Seville Cathedral is one of the landmarks of Seville and is one of the largest churches in the world. Adorned in the Gothic and Baroque styles, it has breathtaking vaulted ceilings on the interior. It houses one of the most expensive altarpieces in existence, created by a single craftsman, Pierre Dancart. Don't forget to visit the official tomb of Christopher Columbus in the cathedral.
You will also get a chance to go up La Giralda, the bell tower of the cathedral that stands at 104 meters, which is one of the most important symbols of the city. Spectacular views of the lush Andalusian countryside and Seville can be seen from here, and make for great photo opportunities.
The Church of El Salvador is another lesser-known, albeit equally significant attraction of Seville. Built in the Baroque style, the 17-century wood carvings are a must-see and promise to take your breath away!

The cathedral will be closed off to visitors from Dec 4 to Dec 7, 2024 due to a congress. The tour of the cathedral will be restricted to the Eastern third of the church where a temporary exhibition called "Fons Pietatis" will be taking place. The rest of the building, the main chapel, and the Columbus Tomb will also be closed off.
