Discover Douro
Meet next to São Bento train station in Porto, and set off on your adventure. Roam through the rustic town sides of Douro, embrace its history, and watch it reflect in the culture and aesthetic around you. The landscapes of the Douro Valley are diverse. Just like a childhood drawing of the perfect mountains, the river is flanked by green mountains on both sides, forming an interesting “V” shape. The soil from these mountains is also used to grow vines, which several terrace wineries in the valley make use of.
Cuisine, culture, and viticulture
You will stop along several viewpoints at places like São Leonardo da Galafura or Amarante. Enter a local restaurant to enjoy an authentic feast in Portuguese cuisine. Finish off a traditional lunch at a panoramic restaurant before you take off to the next part of your tour.
The 45-minute river cruise down the Douro River is a treat for the eyes. See views of the valley surrounded by hills and the lovely village of Pinhão. End your day on a giddy note at a renowned winery. Here, you will get to try out an exquisite range of port wines that are proudly made in Douro and Porto.
