Exploring the rich history of Lower Silesia
With 3 World Heritage Sites and 18 Historic Monuments of Poland, Lower Silesia is a treasure trove of culture and history. Get ready for a day exploring the architectural beauty of Lower Silesia as you're picked up at your hotel in Wroclaw in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus. Discover the fascinating secrets and dark horror stories of the Książ Castle, the 3rd largest castle in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. Featuring medieval gothic and baroque-style interiors, the castle was once seized by Hitler's paramilitary forces to create one of his most important headquarters. To this day, rooms located in the basement by the Nazis haven't been opened.
Spend some time in serenity as you visit the magnificent Church of Peace in Świdnica. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this monument is the largest timber-framed church in Europe and features exotic Baroque-style decor. Not only is the church astounding to look at, but it's also a testament to the tolerance of a Catholic ruler towards Protestant communities in Silesia.
Some charming streets and a beautiful love story
Take a leisurely walk through the iconic Świdnica’s Market Square, and gaze at the quaint, colorful townhouses that feature Gothic relics. Take some time to snap a few photos in the town square where you'll be able to see stunning fountains and a majestic well of Neptune. If you're lucky enough to be visiting on the 1st Sunday of a month, you can enjoy seeing the square filled with stalls selling furniture, jewelry, and other goods.
Your final stop is the Wałbrzych Palm House, a structure that houses more than 250 species of plants. The last representative of the Hochberg dynasty in Książ Castle, Hans Heinrich XV built this for his beloved spouse Mary Theresa Cornwallis-West, who loved flowers and plants. Today, this is the only such facility in Poland that's been preserved in its original construction. After an exciting day, you'll be dropped off at your hotel.
