Your experience
A natural rock formation in central Greece, the Meteora is home to one of the largest built complexes of Eastern Orthodox Monasteries in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, Meteora is a must-see destination.
The experience starts early in the morning, and you will be picked up between 8 and 8:30 AM from Thessaloniki. The 230-kilometer journey will take approximately 3 hours, including a 20-minute break.
You will reach Meteora around 11:30 and see the complex of rocks firsthand! The 6 remaining monasteries are a sight to behold, standing atop massive natural pillars. You will get to visit two of these six monasteries, depending on the exact schedule for the day. Each of the 6 monasteries has its own attractions and guarantees to leave you with a unique experience.
The tour bus will make a short stop at a viewpoint, where you can enjoy some stunning panoramic views of the Holy Monasteries. The sight of these majestic natural structures and monasteries is a confluence of mystery and awe, and promises to take your breath away!
Next up on the itinerary is a traditional Greek lunch at the Kalambaka area while enjoying the unforgettable sights of Meteora. You will depart back to Thessaloniki at 3:30 PM.

Every Monday we visit the monasteries of Varlaam and Rousanou, every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday the monasteries of Saint Stefanos and Varlaam and every Friday the monasteries of Rousanou and Saint Stefanos. In exceptional cases, visits to the monasteries may be varied.
