What to Expect On Your Bourbon Tunnel Tour
Built by the Bourbon kings and queens in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Bourbon Tunnel is a system of tunnels and subterranean rooms and passages. In these underground passages were air raid shelters, and water and sewage systems. As you go through this subterranean passageway, your guide will fill you in on all the details about the tunnel’s history and its impact on the city’s growth.
See remnants of the air raid shelter, including graffiti from WWII and the remains of beds and other equipment. Remains of ancient Roman structures, such as cisterns and aqueducts, were incorporated into the tunnel system as well as historical artifacts and displays that provide valuable information.
