Your adventure begins at 9:45 AM with a convenient pickup in front of the Radisson Blu Hotel. As you set off, soak in the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains and serene valleys that unfold along the scenic route. Upon arrival at the Sami camp in Breivikeidet, a warm welcome awaits. Roll up your sleeves and prepare for an intimate experience as you hand-feed these gentle creatures, petting their soft, furry coats while enjoying the spectacular backdrop of the Lyngen Alps rising majestically in the distance, complemented by the warmth of bonfires flickering around the camp.

Embracing Sami culture

Once your furry friends are satisfied, retreat to the cozy Gamme, a traditional Sami hut, where a warm and hearty lunch awaits you. Enjoy a selection of hot beverages, including coffee, tea, and rich hot chocolate, paired with a delicious traditional Sami stew, with vegan options available. As you savor your meal, your knowledgeable Sami guide will share captivating stories about their culture, revealing the deep connection between the Sami people and reindeer herding. Handle authentic cultural artifacts and uncover ancient traditions, including the art of joiking, a unique form of singing. After this immersive experience, you’ll depart the camp at 1:30 PM, returning to Tromsø with memories to cherish for a lifetime!

Itinerary

  • 9:45 am: Pick up in front of Radisson Blue Hotel in Tromsø

  • 10:00 am: Departure from Tromsø city center

  • 11:00 am: Arrival at the Sami camp in Breivikeidet

  • 11:00 am - 1:30 pm: Safety briefing. Guests will be taken to the fence where they will meet the herd. Feed buckets will be provided. There will be some bonfires lit up around camp. After feeding the reindeer, lunch will be served. After lunch, the Sami guides will start an introduction to their culture

  • 1:30 pm: Departure from the camp in Breivikedet

  • 2:30 pm: Arrival in Tromsø center

What to bring

  • Bring along your hat, gloves, scarf, and warm shoes for the experience.

What's not allowed

  • Strict dress code: Warm jacket, hat, scarf and gloves.

  • Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

  • Keep in mind strong fragrances are not allowed on this experience. Pack wisely!
