The Edo period made for a beautiful era in Japanese history. The historical theme park of Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura attempts to bring this era back to life, and with an authenticity that is certainly admirable. Cobblestoned pathways, attendants dressed in traditional Japanese attire, Edo period style buildings, and exhibits on samurais and the ways of the ninja, all evoke the Edo essence of life. There also happen to be attractions like legend-based plays, ninja houses, 101 classes in shuriken throwing, Japanese archery, and more which truly makes this a place to see, play, and learn. Be sure to indulge in a fun photoshoot where you get to dress up as your favorite character and capture treasured moments, the feast on Dango rice dumpling snack, a cherished specialty of Jidaimura.
