Why You Should Watch The Sound Inside
Why You Should Watch The Sound Inside
Featuring Golden Globe, Emmy, and Tony Award winner Mary Louise Parker, the show is bound to keep you thrilled and glued to your seat until the final scene. Parker was nominated thrice for the Tony Award, and she won it in 2001 for Proof. She has performed in several hit-productions such as A Prelude to A Kiss, Heisenberg, The Snow Geese, How I Learned To Drive, Four Dogs And A Bone, Reckless, and Hedda Gabler. She has also featured in wildly successful TV shows such as The West Wing, When We Rise, Angels in America, Mr Mercedes, Billions, and many more. The play requires the character of Bella to have a very physical and real portrayal, and not as a mere idea. Parker pulls this off splendidly.
The show is directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer and is written by Adam Rapp, a Pulitzer Prize finalist. This play is one of those few spectacular shows that can command the silence of an audience, keeping them waiting with bated breath, guessing at every turn. The creative team includes David Hyman for Costume Design, Aaron Rhyne for Projection Design, Heather Gilbert for Lighting Design, Alexander Woodward for Scenic Design, and Daniel Kluger for the Original Music and Sound Design.
The Story
The Sound Inside tells the tale of Bella Baird who is a 53-year-old novelist. She is also a Yale professor who prefers solitude to the company of others. When she receives a devastating cancer diagnosis and is told that she has a slim chance of making it, however, she is forced to find a companion. Realizing that this is a challenge she can’t handle on her own, she partners with Christopher, a smart yet strange student at the university. The play goes on to intensely explore the meaning of human relationships and the degree to which one person can help another.
