Why visit Museu Tàpies
This is one of the most interesting modern and contemporary art museums in the city. Come enjoy the artist's work from Catalonia, such as the photos and sculptures of Antoni Tàpies. The Museu Tàpies was founded in 1984 with the aim of promoting modern and contemporary art education and knowledge. It organizes temporary exhibitions, symposia, lectures, and film seasons, and offers publications to accompany them.
What you’ll see
Grab your chance to explore a great artist's collection, but also to enjoy temporary exhibitions by other artists. Get to see the exhibitions by the main artists, 'Certezas Sentidas' and 'Teatro', and also a sample of Ariella's work. In addition to being an artwork, the building that houses Fundacion is also a modernist building, modernist in style and industrial style, designed by renowned modernist architect Llus Domenech I Montaner. Tàpies' main work was inspired by artists such as Paul Klee and Joan Miro at the beginning. Soon, he became fascinated with the expressive nature of solid materials, an interest which led to cloth with intense texture and great communicative potential. Creating plastic and diverse artworks that are admired around the world led to the iconic language from Tàpies.
