You will learn tips, strategies, and snacks to improve your sake-tasting experience.

Taste Multiple Flavors!

Begin this fun and insightful sake experience at the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum in Fushimi, the biggest sake brewery in the district. Learn about traditional brewing methods handed down over generations, and conclude the tour with a taste of a few flavors produced there. Your guide will explain the brewing process step-by-step and will make you familiar with the old tools stored in the museum area. After this, try flavors you may not have encountered before, as you'll be introduced to bottles that have never been exported before. Learn how different kinds of food and flavors complement the different types of alcohol and find out for yourself which ones you like best!

  • Drinking and driving are strictly prohibited in Japan, so make sure to travel by public transport or taxi services.

  • The legal age for drinking in Japan is 20 years. Guests aged below 20 have to be accompanied by an adult and will be served non-alcoholic drinks.

  • The venues for tasting sake may vary depending upon the availability.

  • Please note that visit to the fermentation tank is restricted since the brewery has opted to keep visitors out of the production area due to Covid.
