A day in the island
Pack your bag and get away for the day to Fitzroy Island. Just a 55-minute boat ride from Cairns, Fitzroy Island is nothing short of heaven with its crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and lush rainforest. Once you arrive at Fitzroy Island, you can start your day by exploring the island’s natural beauty such as the mangroves lining the creeks of the island or the eucalyptus and acacia trees covering the island's exposed slopes. If you want to do something challenging, you can take the popular Lighthouse trail where you will spot large granite boulders, the popular lighthouse, and the lush rainforest. You can go all the way to the summit where you will get a 360-degree view of the Great Barrier Reef.
Delicious food and underwater safari
Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at Fitzroy Island Resort’s Zephyrs Restaurant where you can feast on local tiger prawns, seasonal fruits, cold cuts, hot dishes, salads, and more. Then, you can put on your snorkeling gear and explore the vibrant marine life in the Great Barrier Reef. You may spot some turtles, reef sharks, and humpback and dwarf minke whales. Who knows, you may spot Nemo and Dory swimming by! Once you are done snorkeling, you can relax on the pearly white Nudey Beach before catching the evening ferry back to Cairns.
