Visiting Amsterdam and want to explore it like a local? What better way to soak in the atmosphere of Amsterdam than to bike through the "Cycling Capital of the World." This tour will take you past canals, famous bridges, and must-visit areas like Vondelpark and Museum Square.
Admire the Verdant Vondelpark and the Legendary Museumplein
Start biking at Vondelpark, the largest city park in Amsterdam. Ride through its winding paths and marvel at sprawling lawns, fountains, and charming footbridges across ponds and streams. Continue past cultural icons of the city, like Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum at Museumplein. Watch out for the central pond and various sculptures. Next, ride along the long bohemian streets of De Pijp, Amsterdam's Latin Quarter. See Albert Cuyp Market, the largest street market in the city, the famous Heineken brewery, and scores of cafes and restaurants with Amsterdammers enjoying their brunch.
Explore Centrum and the Historic Canal District
Continue onwards to Amsterdam's City Center or Centrum. Bike past a network of canals via quaint bridges, cobblestone streets, and lively squares like the Dam Square. Explore the narrow streets of Jordaan beside tree-lined canals. It is the city's hippest area, with beautiful houses, art galleries, restaurants, and the historical Anne Frank House. Paddle across the Skinny Bridge over the Amstel River. This wooden drawbridge is considered one of the most romantic bridges in Amsterdam and is a frequent proposal spot. Finally, head to De 9 Straatjes, or "the nine streets," a stylish area with many boutiques, cafes, and art galleries. End your Dutch adventure at Vondelpark with a cup of coffee or tea!
