Learn about the fantastic world of surrealism on a guided tour at the Dalí Museum in Figueres, the hometown of Salvador Dalí. The mayor of Figueres and Dalí decided to reconstruct the burned theatre into a museum dedicated to Salvador Dalí, the most famous son belonging to the town. A work of surrealism in its own right, the museum was designed by Dalí to be a labyrinth of elements from a dramatic dream.
The museum houses the most extensive collection of works by the artist, including displays of whimsical jewels and the renowned installation of a living room that resembles Mae West when viewed from an angle. Get a glimpse of Dalí’s genius artworks such as Galatea of the Spheres, his self-portraits, Two Girls, The Figueres Fair, and many others. Pay a visit to the final place of rest of Salvador Dalí, a crypt under the stage, which is crowned by a geodesic dome of glass.
