Begin your tour at Castle Square, dominated by a towering column and the beautiful façade of the Royal Castle, this square is the perfect spot to start exploring Warsaw’s Old Town. Here, St John's Arch Cathedral also stands as a 14th-century Roman Catholic church.

Warsaw's Old Town

A professional tour guide will meet you here and will start giving you in-depth information about all the landmarks, important buildings and streets you walk by. Take in the lively atmosphere of the Old Town Market Place. It is the oldest and the center part of Old Town. The Square is lined with buildings from the 1600s and 1700s and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look at the famous bronze mermaid statue in the center of the square. It is an important symbol of Warsaw and thus appears on the coat of arms and in many other pieces of architecture throughout the city.

Iconic Spots in Warsaw

Located between the Old and New Towns, another major tourist attraction is the Warsaw Barbican, a historic fortification. Walk past the house where Nobel Prize winner Maria Sklodowska-Curie, a renowned physicist and chemist, was born in New Town. Come across one of Poland's most notable churches with a Neoclassical facade, St. Annes Church and listen to how it was once a place of solemn homages to Polish monarchs. Climb up to its viewing tower to get a bird’s eye view of the entire Old Town. Other places of interest you will see on this tour include the Presidential Palace, the University of Warsaw and the Holy Cross Church where the Polish composer, Frederic Chopin's heart is buried.
