The commentary on both routes we did was very informative and the tours we did - especially Britannia - were very enjoyable and informative too

We did like getting off and on the bus. We did wait for a few buses but it seemed like it was long time. My wife and I wanted to see a lot and we did get to see a lot of Town. It was a great way to see a lot of history.

It was very easy to buy tickets at Headout. I managed to get a place at the venues the night before, when they were no longer available anywhere else. The package Palace of Holyrrodhouse, Edinburgh Castle, plus Bus Op-Off for 48 hours is an excellent value for money.

Note that the ticket lets you visit Edinburgh Castle and Royal Yacht Britannia within 48 hours. If you need to visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse outside of that timeframe, your ticket will still be valid.
Children aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult or senior citizen during their visit.
The Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, except from 25 May to 8 September 2025, when it remains open daily.
