Mexico City has a storied past, one that cross-connects ancient cultures, stunning architecture and some of the most beautiful art in Latin America. With an expert bilingual guide by your side, discover the incredible history of the city as you see its most famous highlights. Visit the National Museum of Anthropology, the largest and most-visited museum in Mexico. Stroll through its 22 permanent showrooms that display pre-Columbian era pieces such as the Sun Stone, which depicts the five consecutive worlds of the sun from Aztec mythology and the statue of Coatlicue, the earth-mother goddess.
You will also stop by the historic city center, where the Aztec Empire was once seated. Listen to your guide narrate stories about the capital city of Tenochtitlan and observe the traces of its existence that still remain to this day. Walk past emblematic buildings in the area including the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace and the Palace of Fine Arts. What’s more, between visiting the Museum and the city center, you also get to enjoy a panoramic ride across Reforma Avenue. Here, you will find monuments that have shaped and given identity to the city, like the Angel of Independence, Diana the Huntress, and more recently, the creation of the Bicentennial Column.
