Your Experience
Your Experience
The Jewish Quarter of Prague, commonly called Josefov, is one of the richest cultural centers of the Jewish faith in the world. The experience starts with an introductory 20-minute overview of Jewish history and the quarter from an experienced guide. The guide will take you on a short walk that leads to the Pinkas synagogue. You will see the entrance to the Jewish cemetery, as the guide tells you how you can reach the other side of the quarter.
Circuit 1 includes the entrance to Old Jewish Cemetery and 5 synagogues: Old-New Synagogue, Maisel, Pinkas, Spanish, and Klausen Synagogue. The Spanish Synagogue is one of the most beautiful synagogues in Central Europe - built in the Moorish style - and the Old-New Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue in the region. The Old-New Synagogue is one of the oldest synagogues in central Europe and is used for ceremonial services until this day.
Circuit 2 includes entrance to 4 synagogues: Maisel, Pinkas, Spanish, and Klausen Synagogue. The last one is the biggest in Prague Jewish Town. Both options include the Old Jewish Cemetary, Ceremonial Hall, and Robert Guttman Gallery where you can find temporary exhibitions.
After the 20-minute introduction in English is over, you can explore the Jewish ghetto at your own pace!
