Since 1956, the 217-meter-high Fernsehturm Stuttgart has defied wind and weather and has been standing strong. The first TV tower in the world, this prototype has inspired similar constructions all over the world and in other German cities as well. Originally supposed to just be just a functional TV tower, it was Professor Fritz Leonhardt – the famous Stuttgart bridge builder and structural engineer – who innovatively proposed a tower that could also cater to tourists and have an aesthetic appeal.

When visiting the Tower, be sure to observe the unique architectural features such as the exteriors before descending into the foundations and finally taking the elevator up to the observation platform at a lofty height of 150-meters above ground level. Experience breathtaking views from the top of the city, Neckar Valley, and the rolling Swabian countryside as far as the Alb, the Black Forest, and the Odenwald. Learn about fascinating technical details about this award-winning structure that has won the title ‘Historic Landmark of German Engineering’.
