Cover all the Loire Valley has to offer with this combo offer that gets you access to the Chaumont-sur-Loire Castle and any 1 other castle among Chambord, Chenonceau, Royal Blois, and Villandry.
Chaumont-sur-Loire
The Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire consists of the Domaine du Chaumont-sur-Loire Castle as well as the International Garden Festival. You will get the opportunity to view the exquisitely decorated rooms, the opulent spiral staircase, and a number of on-display artworks throughout your stay. The breathtaking view of the Loire from the terraces is the castle's most striking feature, though. The stables are another notable feature. At a time when not even the most magnificent castle had running water or electric lamps, Prince Amédée de Broglie is credited with modernizing it with both.
Additionally, every year there is the International Garden Festival. It brings together internationally recognized garden designers to apply their creativity to designing a garden around the annual subject. This edition's landscapers will work on a stunning, organic, healing, cozy, inventive, and cost-effective garden. It goes without saying that the 30 gardens' creators will astound and surprise you with their creativity!
Chambord and Chenonceau Castle
The two castles are in fact very different. If you're looking for a romantic castle with a lovely garden and furnishings, choose Chenonceau. If you're looking for an impressive castle with royal architecture, choose Chambord. Before entering the Chenonceau Castle, admire its façade. Here, you can make out the structure of the château: a Renaissance main building, flanked by two corner turrets resting on the foundations of the former medieval mill. But it's the castle's location on the River Cher that makes it particularly famous. The views from the garden and from inside the châteaux blend nature and architecture in a magical way!
The Chambord Castle provides an expert fusion of medieval ancestry with Renaissance style. The Greek cross layout of the keep, the main part of the castle, is the first element with an Italian influence. Take your time soaking in the façade of the castle, which is modeled after Italian architecture from the Quattrocento (15th century Italy) and Roman sites like the Colosseum.
Royal Blois and Villandry Castle
As you go through the royal rooms of the Royal Blois Castle, which were formerly home to seven monarchs and ten queens, you'll be transported back in time. Strolling around the 17 rooms, richly furnished with classic patterns, monograms, and candelabras, will disclose to you the dramatic past of the French court, with its secrets, power games, and intrigues. You get a sense of the amazing daily lives of the French royals from the fully furnished palace. Explore the Fine Arts Museum, which is home to over 300 outstanding pieces of art, including pieces by renowned artists Francois Boucher, Peter Paul Rubens, and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres.
Discover the renowned Villandry Castle, a magnificent illustration of Renaissance design distinguished by its tasteful ornamentation, harmonious layout, and graceful proportions. The castle's layout is quadrangular, with four wings around the central keep. Unquestionably one of the most spectacular in the Loire Valley is the gardens of the old Villandry Castle. The traditional French style of design divides the gardens into multiple areas. Succumb to the charms of the Ornamental Garden, which is well-known for its intricate patterns and accuracy. Then get ready to be astounded by the Vegetable Garden's utilitarian beauty, which is a living example of French gardening heritage. Don't miss the opportunity to stroll around the Rose Garden, where vivid blooms emit a delightful scent if you're the romantic type.
