Why Watch Britannicus
Why Watch Britannicus
A tale of moral conscience, love and the want to rise in power, Britannicus tells the story of a mother obsessed with retaining power, both over her son and the empire. Agrippina wants her son, Nero, to take the seat of the Roman Emperor after Britannicus takes the throne. Nero obeys everything his mother says, but after he falls in love with Britannicus's fiancée Junia, he is driven more by his love for her and less by the want to succeed to the throne. He plots an assassination to get Britannicus out of his way to Junia. Catch the limited run of this play to know what happens next!
Britannicus is showing at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre till 24th June 2022.

Reviews
“drama here is deadly serious and self-satirising at once – a portrait of how a tyrant is made that flips into archness then back again”
