Why Watch German Cornejo's Tango Fire
Why Watch German Cornejo's Tango Fire
A social dance that has its roots in the late 19th century, Argentine Tango is perhaps one of the most sensual dance forms in the world. Set in either a 2/4 or 4/4 time signature, the fundamental themes revolve around the lost love and nostalgia. An instrument known as the bandoneon has become one of the most iconic instruments of the dance form. German Cornejo’s Tango Fire adds various modern elements as it traces its ways from Argentine Tango’s origins in the suburbs of Buenos Aires to becoming a recognised form of dance around the world.
Jesus Hidalgo, a soloist for the School of Tango in Buenos Aires, backs the performance with powerful and emphatic vocals. With master musicians in the field such as Gardel, Pugliese, and Piazzolla supporting the dancers on stage, this show promises to be amongst the best dance performances this winter.
The Show
In a display of sheer dancing genius, German Cornejo and partner Gisela Galeassi lead a stellar quintet of couples. With a live musical performance accompanying this elegant display of seductive movement, it is guaranteed leave you spellbound. The lightning-paced footwork and twirling is simply unparalleled, making it both technically complex and sensually entertaining. It returns after a four year hiatus from the UK, and is one of the best acts you can catch in 2019.
